Dan will once again be on
the faculty of JazzCamp West this summer. What a spectacular week it will be! Jazz camp is held every year near Pescadero (South of SF). Lots of classes offered daily with night-time concerts and jam sessions. |
"The
Dan Zemelman Quartet brings some serious jazz chops and a bandleader
who really knows his way around the 88s. Expect satisfyingly complicated bebop, tough yet silky." |

2008 Fillmore Jazz Festival with The Fred Randolph Quintet |
2008

"It has been a fantastic year. I played a concert with my newly formed quartet, played at the Fillmore, San Jose and SF Jazz Festivals, opened for Los Lobos with Will Bernard at the Montalvo Arts Center, played at Kuumbwa Jazz in Santa Cruz and the Jazzschool in Berkeley with Natasha Miller, toured Hawaii with Plum Crazy, played a bunch with the amazing Fred Randolph Quintet and taught 2 jazz piano classes at the Jazzschool this past summer! I'm looking forward to what 2009 has to bring!"

"I had a terrific time working in collaboration with the Ragged Wing Theater Ensemble, directed by Amy Sass. The piece that I worked on was 'The Serpent', an experimental theater piece written in the 60's by Jean Claude Van Itallie. I worked with the cast on musical aspects of the performance, including an arrangement of the Appalachian folk song 'Going Home'. The piece got great reviews from all the major papers and was subsequently sold out for many nights, several weekends in a row. I look forward to the next collaboration. Perhaps I'll act in a piece......"

"Hey! I just got back from Argentina not too long ago. We had a great time there. Lots of sun, lots of kind people, and we performed for 550+ folks for 3 separate nights (with the Zakiya Hooker band, Blues 4 U). It was quite an adventure! I got to see several good friends who live in Buenos Aires and meet lots of great musicians from the area. It looks promising that I will return someday...
