2010

2010 has been a challenging year in some ways. But despite the economic hardships, DZ continues to find new avenues for his music. This past year, Dan performed at Yoshi's with his newly arranged quartet (including a new member and fabulous addition to the band, Greg Wyser Pratte on drums), performed at the Danish Embassy in Washington, D.C. with amazing violinst, Mads Tolling, and met the amazing vibraphonist, Christian Tamburr, whom he has had the pleasure of performing with on several occasions already, including D'Vine Jazz and Wine and Piedmont Piano in Oakland.
Some highlights from years past...

"I had a terrific time working in collaboration with the Ragged Wing Theater Ensemble, directed by Amy Sass. The piece that I worked on was 'The Serpent', an experimental theater piece written in the 60's by Jean Claude Van Itallie. I worked with the cast on musical aspects of the performance, including an arrangement of the Appalachian folk song 'Going Home'. The piece got great reviews from all the major papers and was subsequently sold out for many nights, several weekends in a row. I look forward to the next collaboration. Perhaps I'll act in a piece......"

"Hey! I just got back from Argentina not too long ago. We had a great time there. Lots of sun, lots of kind people, and we performed for 550+ folks for 3 separate nights (with the Zakiya Hooker band, Blues 4 U). It was quite an adventure! I got to see several good friends who live in Buenos Aires and meet lots of great musicians from the area. It looks promising that I will return someday...
